The best 200 figure skaters in the world, from over 50 different countries will compete at the International Skating Union (ISU) World Figure Skating Championships from March 11-17, 2013 at the Budweiser Gardens in London.
The athletes will be competing for the World Championship in four major disciplines of figure skating:
The Worlds are often called the "Olympic Games" of figure skating, as not only will world champions be named, but the number of entries of qualifying countries for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games in Russia will also be decided.
This marks the 10th a Canadian city has played host to the event. The last time Canada hosted the Worlds was in 2006 in Calgary.
Over 300 major media outlets with 50 satellite trucks will be broadcasting from London where this annual event attracts more than 150 million viewers around the globe. Over 500 volunteers have been recruited.
